Each year we endeavour to organise at least one fun weekend camp where we can get together and enjoy some clinics, lots of laughs and to be honest, quite a few bottles of wine!
This year we are going to Boomerang Equestrian near Hungerford Berks from Fri 11 x to Sun 13 June
Just an hours drive down the A34, they can provide us with 2 massive arenas *, lots of colourful show jumps, a XC training field with over 100 fences of all shapes and sizes, hacking, stables and a hand grazing field as well as a camping field for our lorries, tents and trailers, ample hot water in a good permanent shower and (separate) toilet block, use of barbeque , plus the 'shack' - a great space for kicking back, after kicking on, with tables, chairs, a massive kitchen with cookers, fridges, kettles, toasters and charging points for lap tops and phones, plus, an all important wood burning stove in case it's cold or wet.
We are offering 3 day, 2 day and Sunday only options with a mix of lessons to suit your needs - but that depends on take up and requirements !
We have confirmed the following instructors for camp:
Rhian Jones is a much loved local trainer of the Bicester & Warden Hill Pony Club
who is highly recommended by many of our members who have trained with her for some
time and love her enthusiastic, supportive and fun approach to coaching.
Rhian was formally Chief Instructor at Trent Park Equestrian Centre where alongside
teaching, she trained many students taking their BHS exams. Since moving to Wiltshire
she has been team trainer for the Beaufort PC, SJ and Eventing teams and has trained many
pupils who have progressed to GB Junior and Young Rider Teams, including 5* Eventer
Alicia Hawker whom she has taught since she was 8yrs old.
Rhian enjoys teaching to disciplines to all ages and abilities, helping them to gain confidence in their ability to ride as a partnership, regardless of level and to do so safely with speed of progression depending on the individual partnership.
Our other instructor is Charlie Camp Samuels a BHSII Stage 4 Senior Coach with a BSc in Equine Sport Science , UKCC Coach who is another enthusiastic and fun instructor that will encourage and motivate
both horses and riders to fulfil their goals and enjoy riding their horses.
Charlie has competed a number of horses in all affiliated disciplines as well as being a freelance instructor. She is a regular instructor at many camps at Boomerang for the BHS.
Charlie's ethos is " I want to help you develop your riding skills over fences and on the flat
by improving your position, balance, technique and you'll have fun doing it".
“In 30 years of riding, Charlie is by far the best, most knowledgeable and, above all, most enjoyable trainer
I have ever worked with. She’s brought the fun back into my riding!” – Clare, Hampshire
